6.29.2010 If you have ever dreamed of working in real estate, Meridian Technology Center now has the tools to help launch your career. Starting this fall, Meridian will be offering a basic course in real estate. This course will prepare graduates for the state exam certifying them to become Provisional Sales Associates.
"We've taught this course before and had great results," said Ben Savory, Evening Supervisor at Meridian. "If you're thinking about becoming a Real Estate Sales Associate, this is the first class you need."
A Provisional Sales Associate holds a nonrenewable Oklahoma real estate license. Within the first year from the date of licensure, an additional 45-hour post-licensing educational requirement must be completed in order to obtain a renewable license as a Real Estate Sales Associate. Those not completing the post-licensing education will lose their provisional license for one year and must take the basic course again. The terms Provisional Sales Associate and Real Estate Sales Associate are synonymous, with a few exceptions addressed in the Oklahoma Real Estate License Code. An individual may work as a Provisional Sales Associate until he or she completes the requirements for the Sales Associate license. Real Estate Sales Associates earn an average $57,000 a year, but many earn more than $100,000. As housing prices continue to rise, the real estate industry is becoming more lucrative, according to the Real Estate Information Network. The course will be held July 23, July 27-29 and August 3-5. Tuition is $495 for 90 hours of instruction. Students must be 18 years of age to take the exam. "This class will be a great opportunity for anyone interested in a career in real estate," Savory said. "Meridian is proud to offer this customized training on our campus."
