Demographics
Demographics Daily, an online publication recently ranked 634 small cities (between 10,000 and 50,000 in population) in America. Stillwater was ranked sixth overall and designated as a "Dream Town." Ratings were based on eight categories including: community vitality, supply of good jobs, freedom from stress, connection to the cultural mainstream, support for schools, access to health care, low cost of living and small-town character.
G. Scott Thomas, editor of Demographics Daily said, "Millions who live in the big cities or suburbs dream of getting out. Our goal was to provide a list of small cities that offer relief from metropolitan hassles and Stillwater received our sixth best ranking."
In its 2006 ranking of best places to live, Bizjournals rated Stillwater among its Top 20 cities for quality of life. With its high educational attainment, low crime rate, quality neighborhoods and low cost of living, it's no wonder more people are discovering one of America's great university cities!
